Since 2012, we have supported the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. In the last 5 years alone, we have recorded 131 staff volunteering hours!
G F Tomlinson employees in Derby have come together to support one of the firm’s sponsored charities, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, in clearing local wetlands of willow.
The willow poses a threat to the reed bed, which is the natural habitat for many rare species.
Four staff from G F Tomlinson joined over 40 volunteers to prevent the local wetland being damaged by willow. They were site manager Chris Hutsby, estimating assistant Rebecca Creighton, performance manager Sarah Brammer and quantity surveyor Simon Cresswell.

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is one of 47 local Trusts around the UK working to promote and protect local wildlife.
Sarah said: “Taking part in preservation work, such as saving local habitats and supporting Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, is a great way for G F Tomlinson to give back to the local community. ”
“I want to do my bit to help our local wildlife continue to thrive and being part of this activity to cut the willow and preserve important wetland is a hands on way for me to achieve this. ”

It is the only organisation in Derbyshire working to protect all wildlife across the whole county. The organisation manages 42 nature reserves, including moorland, wetlands, woodlands and wildflower meadows.
The group of four G F Tomlinson employees worked for several hours to clear willow at the Willington Gravel Pits Nature Reserve. The site is home to a number of rare birds, including Water Rail, Cetti’s Warbler, Lapwing, Widgeon, Teal and Shoveler.
