Aspiring footballers at Tibshelf Community School now have new football kits – which they will wear with pride on a tour to the Netherlands – thanks to the sponsorship of midlands contractor G F Tomlinson.
The Derbyshire-based school has received continued support from G F Tomlinson, which built the state-of-the-art school last year as part of a £14.5m project.
Joe Lloyd, PE teacher at Tibshelf Community School, said: “G F Tomlinson has played a key role in setting up the new school and it is fantastic that the relationship has grown following the completion of the project. ”
“The new football kits that G F Tomlinson has provided are fantastic and have made a wonderful addition to the team. All of the players look really smart in their new kits and I can tell they are all proud to be representing their school and G F Tomlinson too.”

G F Tomlinson’s sponsorship has covered the cost of the football team’s new kit, replacing the team’s previous kits which were more than ten years old.
The Tibshelf team will be wearing their new kit when they play in the Netherlands in March, as part of a six day tour. The tour will see 42 students aged between 13 and 16 visit the country and play football against local Dutch teams.
The new football kits have arrived at the perfect time for the local team, as the Netherlands football tour has been restarted by new staff members this year, following its 14 year-long popularity which ended unexpectedly due to staff changes.
“Being able to provide our students with a new kit and a trip to the Netherlands is something special, which is why hosting the tour is extremely important to me. Our students all come from a small school in Derbyshire, so being able to provide them with the chance to travel away from home and see another country’s football facilities is something we are proud to pioneer,” added Mr Lloyd.
The new school Tibshelf Community School is truly state-of-the-art and has enhanced learning and teaching for pupils and staff. It includes: generous indoor PE spaces, a good sized hall, adjoining drama space and dining area and an atrium style ‘street’ running through the core.
