Design & Build
The School of Contemporary Chinese Studies building, accommodates offices and academic learning spaces, for post and undergraduate students, together with seminar rooms and a gallery.
The 3 storey reinforced concrete frame structure building was constructed on a design and build basis. The exterior of the building comprises of glazing and rain screen cladding.
Multiple technologies were introduced to make the building efficient, sustainable and functional, achieving a BREEAM Excellent rating.
Contract Period: 45 weeks
Multiple technologies introduced included zoned heating and lighting to areas within the building, photovoltaic panels for electricity generation, ground source heat pumps for the source of heating the building, solar thermal panels for heating water and lighting controls for detection and daylight sensing.
