I started my career in construction as a Carpentry and Joinery apprentice, rising through the ranks of site and project management to move into Contracts Management.
As a Construction Director, I oversee all operational aspects across G F Tomlinson, providing support to our construction teams and hopefully applying effectively the knowledge and experience gained through my 40 year career within the construction industry.
Prior to joining G F Tomlinson I had worked as a Contracts Manager at several local contractors on Traditional, Design & Build and Partnering contracts and frameworks. I have a wealth of experience delivering schemes across many disciplines, including Housing, Education, Civic, Heritage, Healthcare, Industrial and Commercial sectors.
My role encompasses health & safety, strategy and resource planning, quality assurance, effective contract delivery and performance review, environmental compliance and carbon reduction, client relationships and staff development & training.
Additionally, I have a particular interest in the recruitment, development and mentoring of our apprentices.
Through my role as Chair of the Derby group of Cornerstone Employers, I am actively involved in working with local schools and colleges, championing the diverse range of roles available to everyone in construction, including traditional craft, professional and technical apprenticeships, providing real opportunities for young people to forge their careers within our industry. GF Tomlinson help students across our operating region to develop their career choices through training, mentoring and work experience placements.
