Design & Build

This development has created a centre for excellence for telling the Ice Age Story of this archaeological site to school children, local communities and tourists.

Creswell Crags is a popular tourist attraction, with over 50,000 visitors a year. It is also an ancient monument site and a site of archaeological interest. Therefore, a sensitive approach to the construction needed to be adopted.

The new building incorporated state of the art displays, a research and library room, collection storage facilities as well as a suite of rooms for education groups, talks and conferences. This project has achieved BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.

To ensure we didn’t disturb the archaeological and ecological aspect of the site, we employed the services of an archaeologist and ecologist to monitor the construction activities.

Contract Period: 45 weeks
