Client: Casepak Limited Location: Leicestershire Value: £7.2 million
Design & Build
This design and construct project involved the creation of a 140,000 sq ft warehouse facility and 5,000 sq ft office facility at the Casepak recycling plant in Leicester, which is used for the recycling of glass, plastics and cardboard.
Following a successful tender, an intensive period of 8 weeks was used to finalise groundwork, substructure, superstructure and reinforced concrete design details.
Initial works involved the demolition of a disused building and a ground engineering solution which involved the combination of dynamic compaction and driven concrete piles, saving 3 weeks on the outline tender programme as well as over £250,000 against the contract sum.
Contract Period: 28 weeks
The main use of this structure requires heavy goods vehicles to be in constant use and as such the reinforced concrete detailing for the push walls, loading pits and docks had to be of a robust nature.
Superstructure works including over 1000 tonnes of primary structural steel, masonry and composite cladding followed on from the groundworks and substructures.
