Design & Build

Construction of the new state-of-the-art Fire Station, comprising multi-functional office space, relaxation room, gymnasium, training rooms, tower and individual dormitories to accommodate up to seven firefighters.
Located within the heart of Hull city centre and adjacent to residential properties and operational businesses, a detailed and specific traffic management plan was implemented to ensure minimal disruption to the everyday operations of the surrounding properties. In addition, the access road into the site is shared with another contractor and therefore close liaison with their Site Manager was paramount when scheduling deliveries.
The new facilities incorporate a number of sustainable features, including a green sedum roof, photo voltaic panels, natural ventilation and lighting systems. These elements are designed to provide lower maintenance and running costs at circa £120,000 annually.
We provided the client with numerous value engineering options, resulting in a saving of £12,000.
We worked closely with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service’s to ensure their key driver to met the operational needs of the crew and their services was met. This involved regular meetings and workshops aligned to our soft landings process and previous lessons learnt to reduce issues upon initial occupancy.
